Planning your event

Overlooking the oval and synthetic courts of the Forrest oval complex, York Recreation Centre is a newly completed facility that caters for everything from sporting wind-ups to parties and corporate conferences. Home to most of York’s sporting clubs; the facility houses a gym and various change rooms and is set amongst sprawling playing fields and state of the art synthetic playing surfaces. The bright and airy main function and bar area is fully temperature controlled and can partition into three separate areas ensuring your guests are always comfortable, regardless of function size. It leads out on all sides onto a partially covered courtyard area with occasional furniture, perfect for summertime dining or break out areas during conferences.

On days when the bar is open, we air live sports on the big screens and hold regular raffles and promotions throughout the year. There are a range of popular tap beers available and also packaged products and a new wine list, featuring several different varietals. In keeping with traditional clubhouse standards, we aim to offer quality food and beverages at down-to-earth prices for both sports club members and the visiting public alike. For sporting events, we also like to offer the option of a food kiosk, with quick and easy lunches and snacks throughout the day.

Aside from the delicious meals served in the bar area every Friday and Sunday, our kitchen can cater your event of up to 250 guests (depending on the style and duration) as well as providing any bar and AV requirements you may have. A range of service styles from finger food to buffets are available, and everything in between. We can also cater for those with special dietary requirements or food allergies. 

Being a very new facility, every effort has been made to ensure that playing fields minimise water use and that the building itself is eco-friendly, water-wise and energy efficient. Our facilities are also accessible to the mobility impaired and we have a state of the art sub-flooring system that assists those with hearing aids. The café style furniture within is flexible in its configuration and whilst the room is somewhat geared towards conference style events, with its in-house P/A and great AV options, it is equally serviceable for casual dining and cocktail parties.

Adjacent to the building, there is a sizeable car park for larger events and a stone’s throw away, an indoor basketball stadium and a basic hall which may also be available for use if two or three large indoor areas are required. Please enquire if you wish to use any of the sporting facilities for team building activities or the like, as whilst they are usually available, it will depend on current sporting fixtures. 

If you wish to book the main room for exclusive use, room hire can be as low as $141, dependent on use. Price of hire of all other areas/rooms is dependent on use.
